The Perfect Beginner Quilt

From Cut Loose Press® by Rachelle Craig, Havenwood is the perfect beginner class or project! Just about every inch of the fabric is used in this quilt. Grab forty-2 1/2-inch strips (or cut your own), a background fabric and you are ready to go. Kitting not required!

Turning every other block creates the modern off-set look that gives this quilt its style.

The cover quilt is made with Pearl Splendor by Benartex. Or, cut your own strips with the Creative Grids® Stripology XL Ruler.

The 2-1/2″ slits are marked with squares – can’t get any easier than that! What a great way to use up scraps.

Treasured Threadz™ by Amy Barickman

Hi! My name is Amy Barickman and I am here to tell you about my new Treasured Threadz™ collection! I’ve been so lucky to create this with my hometown partner, Colonial Patterns. Colonial Patterns has been producing the popular Aunt Martha’s embroidery patterns for over 85 years! Watch this short video for an overview:

The new Treasured Threadz™ fabric panels are a culmination of my love for vintage textiles and passion for repurposing thrifted fabrics and preloved apparel. Using my vintage collection of art, textiles and quilts, I have designed FIVE Treasured Threadz™ fabric panels! I also developed some signature techniques for applying patchwork that are perfect for featuring in your store demos and classes!

Upcycling fabrics has always been a favorite focus of mine over my 30 years creating sewing and craft patterns. Think of these panels as “cheater” or “convenience” panels that offer your customers a shortcut to style! These authentic digital reproductions are perfect for embroidery, quilting, collage or applique. Embellish projects or use the panels for your favorite sewing pattern.

Every panel purchase includes a QR code that will give you access to exclusive digital content. There are three printable PDF patterns (a cross body bag, zipper pouch, and eyeglasses case) as well as an extensive Look Book with over 25 pages of project ideas. Treasured Threadz™ truly offers endless inspiration for creating unique fashion and sustainable sewing projects.

We also have a new companion Favorite Fusible Stabilizer. We have developed this low-loft fusible batting as the perfect partner to our fabric panels. Each package includes a 11″ x 17″ Pressing Sheet, and added value to your customers as they create with our signature techniques to embellish and applique.

With the purchase of the Favorite Fusible Stabilizer, you will find a QR code with detailed videos and PDF instructions for oth Decorative Patch Applique and our Repair Patch Techniques. Both methods are great for embellishing or mending favorites from your home and closet.

There are so many ways to use this stabilizer. Use it to give a layer of body, softness and stability to almost anything you create. You can easily layer this fusible batting with fabric and add decorative stitching for a dimensional, hand-quilted look. Treasured Threadz™ panels are perfect for applique as well as small projects like my popular Fold & Go Folio pattern.

You can use it to create a sturdy fabric for functional projects such as cross body bags or an eyeglass case (both patterns are included with each fabric panel). One of my favorite uses for this stabilizer is for hand embroidery. It’s a wonderful backing for your stitching project, no hoop required!

The broad appeal of Treasured Threadz™ makes it perfect for in-store demo days, design challenges, classes or retreat projects. Even better, a continuity or club program could be created using the patterns that are included with purchase of a panel.

.Thanks for letting me share Treasured Threadz? with you – I hope you are inspired to embrace the opportunity you have with this line and share it with your community. Visit the Checker website to see all of Amy’s patterns, panels and fusible batting: Amy Barickman
