Preview of Quilt Market

The new releases that will be showcased at Market in Kansas City are starting to appear on the website. There are no rhyme nor reason to these – just new items that I know you will want to order NOW!

The newest releases from Quiltworx include a centerpiece that can be separated into slices of watermelon. What a perfect summer centerpiece! Yogo Saphire is a limited edition pattern – there will only be 500 sold!

Cuppa Joe Place Mats by GE Designs is a darling quilt as you go project. What a cute addition to your table!

Fractions by Swirly Girls is a geometric masterpiece that would be a great choice for that man in your life!

This latest Cut Loose Press™ pattern, Surprise Party Quilt by Terri Faust, showcases a new technique using the Creative Grids® Cat’s Cradle Tool.

This table runner by Eazy Peazy looks just like Margaret Travis! Modern, fun and playful!

The Cut Loose Press™ pattern, of course, is always in stock. The others are all due to arrive next month!

Jelly Roll Sasher

When five of the top 25 patterns are jelly roll rugs, you know this is a trend that is here to stay! And, now Pauline Roger’s new Sasher. These are due to arrive later this month so I haven’t gotten to try them yet – but based on Pauline’s other Sashers, this one is sure to be a winner – and speeds up the process considerably!

Don’t forget to order more patterns and batting as well!

Shabby Fabrics has created a hearth version.

This version by Aunties Two uses layer cakes!

With the popularity of wood floors, these remind me of Grandma’s braided rugs. They were at every door, beside every bed, and in front of every sink. One is just not enough!

Quilts under Foot

Back in the day, everyone had braided fabric rugs everywhere! Fast forward 50 years and with the popularity of hardwood floors, throw rugs are the new fashion statement.

This newest pattern by Shabby Fabrics features a Slice Rug. The flat side fits perfectly by the shower, the kitchen sink, or the front door. Choose your favorite 2-1/2 inch strips and one roll of Bosal 2-1/2 inch batting strips.

The pattern should be in stock next month so place your orders now!

Home Grown by Nancy Halvorsen

What can I say??? Nancy continues to amaze me with every line – and book – she does! In Home Grown, she showcases those values that we all try to achieve in our own lives.

And, in typical Art To Heart style, she has thought of everything! The fabric collection from Benartex – Home Grown by Nancy Halvorsen will be available next month – and comes in ten or 15-yard assortments.

I have showcased her signature teal below just so you can see some detail, but all of the colors are gorgeous. Gray is the new neutral – and she has that covered as well!

I have always loved what she does with tea towels…

With this line, she offers a set of six tea towels which can be used to make the projects above.

OR, buy them by the bolt! These yarn dyes are 43 – 44 inches wide.

Just look at the details on these individual blocks of the cover quilt.

Look what you can do with a panel!!!

Of course, it doesn’t stop there! The embellishments add that awe factor to each block!

These buttons are available for individual blocks are as an entire set. Why not do this as a block of the month? Make a block each month as well as a smaller project that will make great companions to add that Martha Stewart looks to your room. Or, have ideal gifts on hand when needed. Who wouldn’t love that???

Dish Towels with a Little Sass

These Aunt Martha’s Dirty Laundry embroidered dish towels are sure to make you smile! These 28 inch square flour sack dish towels are hemmed on all sides with a hanging loop in the corner.

These would make great gifts. Check out Aunt Martha on our website to see the entire collection. These gems are due to arrive the first of the year.

Silicone Coasters

Lisa Amundson of Around the Bobbin scored a home run last Market with the release of her Hot Stuff Oven Mitt. The pattern includes the silicon.

But, who can make just one so refills are available.

Her new pattern – Coaster Ride – includes enough silicon to make four coasters along with the pattern to make the cute little container.

And, yes – refills are available!

These new products are due to arrive this week so order them now!

Crazy Christmas Tree Farm

I love the Crazy Christmas Tree! It has three of my favorite things – it is fast, fun, and the perfect gift! I have made and taught this multiple times in a multitude of fabrics. Use two backgrounds, two tree colors, the same tree color, or eight different colors. The truth is I never saw a tree that I didn’t like!

Therefore, I was thrilled to see that Karla Alexander has expanded on this technique to make an entire quilt! The Tree Farm uses groups of color to create a stunning quilt. The backgrounds of one tree create a tree in another block! The lights and darks are simply stunning!

This quilt measures 52″ x 66″ so a Shannon Cuddle at 60″ wide is the perfect backing!

Both patterns take the Creative Grids Spiderweb tool so you get more bang for your buck! Order them now so you can start your quilt as soon as the pattern arrives and have it done in plenty of time for Christmas! The really is a day project!

The Perfect Kitchen Accessory

Lisa Amundson of Around the Bobbin has created a designer oven mitt that makes a great class! All you need is two fat quarters, some cotton batting and the pattern – which includes the transparent food grade silicone overlay.

The silicone is designed to withstand temperatures of up to 450 degrees!

Here are a few tips that Lisa shared with us:

It is easy to sew through the silicone – just use a Schmetz Microtex needle 14/90. Since the silicone is sandwiched between two layers of fabric, stitching is a breeze!

When sewing the cuff, the silicone fits over most free arms.  For those of us who don’t have a free arm, it is easiest to turn the oven mitt inside out to do the top-stitching along the cuff.

But who can stop at just one? Refills of the silicone are available:

This pattern has been so popular that Lisa is planning some new releases for Fall Market so teach your customers how to work with the silicone now! I, for one, can’t wait to see what she has in store!

New Meaning to Block Party

Stitch Happens is the perfect wall hanging for a sewing room. It features several quilt blocks – which make it the basis of a great class.

Now welcome the big sister! This larger version features even more block designs and is a throw size.

Both are in stock and ready for your next block of the month series!

Start a Table Runner Club

Kathy Skomp of Lavender Lime Quilting has quite an imagination! She has created 20 table runners – 10 pieced and 10 appliqued – all of them are charming!

The awe factor? Any design from a table runner can be turned into a darling placemat so there are TONS of options! What a great basis for a series of classes! Why not make one a month for a gift that keeps on giving?
