These Holly Jolly Gnomes designed by The Whole Country Caboodle are simply adorable! The pattern features four different gnomes: Reindeer Gnome, Snowflake Gnome, Santa Gnome, and Papa Gnome. With names like that, they could move right in with the Smurfs and feel right at home!

The booklet includes instructions for a mug rug, pillow, pillow wrap, and canister wrap. Many feature homespun towels as a base.

I can already see these as the basis of gifts for next year. Why not start a holiday club in January? Feature projects like this that make great gifts for everyone on your list – including the pets! Can’t you just picture a canister filled with cat or dog treats wrapped with a reindeer gnome? Decorated kitchen towels for hostess gifts? Mug rugs for the folks at work? Wouldn’t it be nice to have an assortment of gifts on hand next year?

Table Runners with A Modern Flare

What a great series of classes or online videos! Why not offer a table runner of the month instead of a block of the month? The designs are dramatic but simple so most of the work can be done in class. And, many of the runners offer opportunities to teach different techniques and tools.

The book is reasonably priced and most of the patterns require fat eighths so they are easy – and affordable to kit!

Snowflake Squad Wool Garland

The pattern name is even adorable! Sew Cherished created the Snowflake Squad to help you with your winter decorating. Using the interchangeable banner and attaching the appliques with magnets – these little banners change out really quickly for a big impact. Each wool applique measures approximately 5″ in diameter.

This is the winter version of the Gouly Gang pattern I shared a few weeks ago. Made of hand-dyed wool, each pumpkin head is approximately 4″ x 4″. Designed to fit in the banner with magnets, they could easily be made into separate ornaments as well.

Both patterns are designed to work with this 67.5″ garland from Kraft Klub. Simply affix the wool work with magnets. The circles have a chalkboard finish you can write on them with chalk, too.

Here are the magnets designed to work with everything above! They are1″ inch enamel magnets that come in a 12 pack.

I love these wool designs by Dawn Shuck. The height is an added bonus since you can still display pictures, etc. beneath them. And the magnets make it easy to change out the designs.

New Arrivals from Cut Loose Press™ Patterns

Peppermint Twist (#CLPSCH002) is a darling table runner by Sheila Christensen that features the Creative Grids® Half Sixty ruler. Since you cut a multitude of shapes to create the candies, it is a great choice for a class!

Hearts on the Half Square (#CLPPHA015) was designed by yours truly so I am a little prejudice! It is made with 80 layer cakes. My family calls this the wedding quilt because I have made so many of them for wedding gifts. The hearts are the perfect size for signatures and messages for the honored couple. At 75 x 91 inches, it is the perfect size for cuddling. It also works great as a memory quilt for any event: graduations, anniversaries, babies…

Since this quilt is made with half-square triangles created from ten-inch squares, I used the 15-inch Creative Grids® Seam Guide Tool (#CGRSMN15) to mark the sewing lines. It is specifically designed to span the diagonal of a 10″ square!

Putting the top together is a breeze when all of the half-square triangles are trimmed to the exact same size!

Charmed Hearts (#CLPPHA014) is made with 80 charm squares pieced into offset four-patches. Or, if you make Hearts on the Half-Square – and carefully trim the excess fabric out behind the hearts, you get a twofer!

Since this is made with five inch squares, the 2 1/2″ width of the I love my Quilting Friends ruler (#CGRQF26 )works great to cut the four-patches.

If you like to do handwork, the hearts for both quilts can be appliqued. The Gypsy Quilter Freezer Paper (#TGQFP811H) is recommended. It comes in 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheets so you can trace one page of hearts and run it through a home printer to save tracing time.

But, if you prefer machine embroidery, use Print-N-Fuse (#PNF25). It is also available in 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheets so the hearts can be copied on a home printer. Follow the package instructions to fuse the stabilizer on the back and fuse in place.

Deb Heatherly designed this Hexagon Pillow (#CLPDHE039 )to showcase a favorite print or photo transfer. What a cute, easy project – and a great gift.

Fast, easy Holiday Project

Kristine Poor of Poorhouse Quilt Designs has the best ideas! She is genius at creating projects that can actually be completed in a class. Santa Socks is a perfect example of that!

These stockings are a nice size – 11″ x 17″ – which also means they can be cut from fat quarters! Christmas fabric is arriving soon so lets be prepared! Kris has worked with Bosal so that the fusible batting is the exact size you need – no need to trim!

That is always the frustrating part since the shape is larger than traditional paper! These patterns and pre-cut batting packages are due to arrive the first week in June so order now!

Tabletastic

This book is the PERFECT basis for a monthly class! The spiral-bound book includes 20 brand new designs by Doug Leko for Antler a Quilt Design. Each design is shown in two different colorways so your students will feel comfortable choosing different fabrics.

Have each staff member choose their favorite, make a sample and teach that class. You will have all of your samples done in no time and your customers will get a chance to meet your entire staff! Now that is a win/win for everyone! Change the fabrics with the seasons and feature different techniques each month. After all, every month has to be a learning opportunity to keep them coming back!

Have them kitted each month in several fabrics so they can choose their favorites – and get to see the topper in other colorways as well. They may end up buying additional kits since these make great gifts!

A follow up machine quilting class would be a plus so they could finish each topper as they go. These books will be arriving this month so order your copies now!

Dry Ideas

This quarantine has brought back so many memories of my grandma! (Who knew that house dresses would be back in style!) She always had a half-filled sink of soapy water and a towel on the counter with a rack on top to dry the dishes. So when Kristine Poor of Poorhouse Designs submitted this pattern, I was all in! So many teachable moments!!!

It uses pre-cut sheets of In-R-Form to make it even easier to have a class – and they will go home with a finished project! Or do a little video and sell the kits on-line!

After this quarantine, you should have a lot of new customers who dug out their old sewing machines to make masks – and now want new projects. This is the perfect beginner project! Teach them strip-piecing, paper-piecing, (yes, those wine glasses are paper-pieced) top-stitching with micro-tec needles… Remember – these new sewers probably came from clothing and are used to 5/8″ seams so there will be a learning curve!

Kristine has also written a pocket guide to Interfacings. Many of your customers have not worked with this product before so it is another educational opportunity!

Chicken Runner

Cotton Ginnys does cute so well – and this has to be the cutest!

If this place mat or table runner doesn’t make you smile in the morning, nothing will! We even have some chicken wire fabric from Elizabeth Studio to go with it! But checks, stripes and polka dots would be just as charming!

What a great combination! AND, a great choice for a make it/take it class! They could easily finish it in an afternoon! The fabric is in stock now, the pattern is due later this month so order now!
